Im Herbst 2015 fand ich eine bereits keimende Kastanie, nahm diese mit, und setzte diese in meinen Garten. Über das Jahr 2016 goss ich sie und beobachtete, wie sie wuchs. Nun, wieder kurz vor Frühling, knipste ich ein Foto davon. Nun ist der Sprössling an die 20cm hoch und hatte letztes Jahr zwei Keimblätter.

In the autumn of 2015 I found a mock chestnut that was already pullulating, took it with me, and put it in my garden. Over the course of 2016, I was watering it and observed how it grew. Shortly before spring, I have taken a photograph of it again. The stock is at 20cm height now and had two cotyledons last year.

.. mit dieser Knospe von Wikipedia, zeigt sich dass es wahrscheinlich ist, dass es eine 'Rosskastanie' ist.

Zwei Monate später, der Frühling (April 2017) kündigt sich an, und die Rosskastanie gibt Anzeichen sich weiter zu bilden.

Two months later on, spring (April of 2017) gives sign to come and the horse chestnut (formerly labeled Mock Chestnut) seems to continue growing.

Nun Mitte 2017 sieht das kleine Bäumchen so aus..

A short summary of my prospective tree

Die Rosskastanie die im Garten heranwächst, gehört zur Familie der Seifenbaumgewächse und ist näher verwandt mit Zitruspflanzen die zu der Ordnung der Seifenbaumartigen gehört - aber zur Familie der Rautengewächsen. Die Edelkastanie indes gehört zur Familie der Buchengewächse wie auch die Eichen und Buchen. Auch zu den Seifenbaumgewächsen gehören Ahorne.

The mock chestnut, also known as horse chestnut, growing in my garden belongs to the family of soap tree, which is closer related to the order of citrus - that belongs to the family of rhombus. The real chestnut in turn belongs to the family of fagacea, and thus is closer related to oaks and beech. Also, maples belong to the family of soap tree.

+++ Stand September 2017 +++

While there was just one bud in the beginning of this year, there are now two ones. Also it has got more leaves. It's palpable how this horse chestnut has been growing up to now. I expect it will shed its leaves soon as to prepare for winter, and next year I will see how it will be developing then.
